Yes, men have a pelvic floor too, which may need attention from time to time! Men may find it difficult to discuss what they are experiencing & their symptoms which may be associated such as incontinence & erectile dysfunction. It is important to know that help is available for you also!
-
Children can also experience conditions related to their pelvic health including constipation, bedwetting or day wetting. As a parent it can be hard to know who to see for these types of problems, a women’s & pelvic health physiotherapist can help.
Specialist Services:
-
A pelvic floor muscle assessment is essential when it comes to looking at your pelvic floor function and pelvic structures. This assessment will ensure the provision of a more individualised exercise program to meet your specific needs.
-
Inflammatory conditions of the lactating breast such as mastitis, engorgement & blocked ducts can be extremely debilitating, causing extreme pain & in many cases it can be the reason why many women cease breastfeeding. A women’s & pelvic health physiotherapist can help relieve the symptoms & help manage these conditions.
-
Rectus abdominus diastasis (RAD) is a condition which occurs during every pregnancy, about 1/3 of women will not have a natural resolving abdominal wall separation, this is where we can help! Education & individualised assessment is so important during pregnancy and in the postnatal period to avoid excessive RAD occurring & to explore the best management options for you.
-
A vaginal pessary can be extremely beneficial in the management of a pelvic organ prolapse. Pessaries can provide short term relief (during exercise) or can be used long term, to enable you to continue completing your activities of daily living without symptoms.
